Verbatim vs. clean transcription for research
Different research methodologies require different transcription styles. AI transcription produces clean verbatim by default — it captures what was said accurately while naturally smoothing filler words. This is ideal for thematic analysis and grounded theory.
If your methodology requires true verbatim(every "um," pause, and false start), you can do a verification pass against the audio using the included timestamps. Most qualitative researchers find clean verbatim sufficient.
Either way, the transcripts give you a solid foundation that saves dozens of hours compared to manual transcription at 4-6x real time.
Cost for a typical research project
Most qualitative studies involve 10-30 interviews. Here's what transcription costs at $2/hr:
$20
10 interviews (1 hr each)
$40
20 interviews (1 hr each)
$60
30 interviews (1 hr each)
No subscription. No monthly fee. Pay only when you transcribe.
